About NZ Bicycle Training Academy

After more than 40 years in the industry, I decided to combine the knowledge that I gained and offer my services as an independent trainer, consultant and fleet mechanic. I set up the NZ Bicycle Training Academy (NZBTA) to continue supporting and upskilling bicycle mechanics of all levels. I have always very much enjoyed training others and sharing my knowledge.

Rene’s experience in the bicycle industry

  • 45+ years in Bicycle repairs
  • 25+ years in training Bicycle Trade mechanics (mostly as the formerly known Shimano Service Centre training)
  • 8+ years in training community/volunteer mechanics
  • 15+ years of in-Store consultancy
  • 4+ years of Bike Rental maintenance consultancy

Why choosing NZBTA for your training?

This type of training used to be always connected to bicycle importers. However now it is a separate business and it is open to everyone, industry or private. The NZBTA provides all mechanics with the opportunity to come and increase knowledge and skills in a supportive and personalised environment. My training is hands-on real-life experience, not theory-based or like information from an in-experienced person on the Internet. 1,700 and counting mechanics around NZ will vouch for this.
